National Clean Energy Week, 2022

Superior Plus Propane
9/6/22

With many people around the globe trying to become more environmentally friendly, learn how you can do your part to save the environment and reduce greenhouse gas emissions during National Clean Energy Week 2022.

What is National Clean Energy Week 2022?

In a nut shell, National Clean Energy Week is a week in September dedicated to the fuels and power sources that produce very little or no greenhouse gases. National Clean Energy Week began in 2017 “when a coalition of businesses and organizations from across the country partnered to advance support of the nation’s energy sector through market development, policy change and technological innovation” (Welcome National Clean Energy Week With NETL | netl.doe.gov). According to National Clean Energy Week – SEPTEMBER 26-30, 2022, the week“is a celebration of the policies, industries, and innovations that power our daily lives, while producing no or very little greenhouse gas emissions.” This year, National Clean Energy Week is celebrated September 26th through 30th.

Propane: The Energy Friendly Fuel to Use to Celebrate National Clean Energy Week Year Round

While National Clean Energy Week is a great way to bring focus to the issue of reducing greenhouse gases, the best way to celebrate clean energy is by using an environmentally friendly fuel source year-round. Propane is an excellentfuel choice for the environment.

According to the Propane Education and Resource Council (PERC), “using propane is an excellent way to reduce emissions while meeting energy needs. It’s a clean, non-toxic energy source that helps reduce carbon emissions” (www.propane.com). Also, propane is considered a low-carbon fuel alternative, and it emits 43% less greenhouse gases than electricity (www.propane.com).

Propane’s environmentally-friendly benefits are numerous and significant. Because propane is both nontoxic and nonpoisonous, it won’t contaminate the soil or groundwater like other fuel sources (www.propane.com). Currently, research into creating more renewable sources of propane are underway, as well. Researchers are checking out how propane can be sourced from used cooking oil and other waste products to create a propane that does not add any new carbon to the atmosphere (www.propane.com).
